Influence students by supporting educators in your region.
Create systemic change – impacting your community and the future of education.
The STARTedUP Innovation Educator Fellowship is the catalyst for inspiring classroom innovation and elevating the mission of our teachers. For the past several years, a staggering amount of educators have left the profession feeling unable to make a true impact on students and lacking the purpose they sought in teaching. This turnover has led to huge instability for schools across the country and in turn, the students and communities they serve.
44%
of new K-12 teachers leave the profession within five years.
The Fellowship uses six key elements to instill a mindset of innovation and entrepreneurship among students and teachers: (1) innovation / entrepreneurship training; (2) classroom content / curriculum; (3) educator workshops; (4) community connection; (5) peer support groups; and (6) ongoing support by the STARTedUP team. The programming across these elements allows educators to learn about the principles of innovation and community connection all while implementing it in their classrooms.
Not everyone has to be an entrepreneur, but to compete in the economy of the future and change the world around you, we must help our students think like entrepreneurs.
Where is the value in supporting the STARTedUP Innovation Fellowship?
Influencing the Future of Workforce Development
Through the STARTedUP curriculum, students are challenged to think entrepreneurially. This platform is made to foster a more diverse future workforce as students are introduced to different ways of thinking and a wide variety of career pathways and industries.
Introducing Diverse Talent Pipelines
STARTedUP is looking to have Fellows from all across Indiana – providing opportunities for businesses to engage with students in both urban and rural communities, regardless of race, ethnicity or socioeconomic status.
Creating a Sustainable Ecosystem Model
Using a model where multiple partners are supporting educators creates not only a sustainable program, but brings together members of the community to support students and teachers in their own backyard.
Increasing Teacher Retention & Satisfaction
Over the past three years of teacher programming, STARTedUP has seen an increase in educator retention and satisfaction. Teachers have reported feeling supported by those in their region and have had more interest in maintaining engagement due to community connectedness.
