Carmel students’ innovative idea earns state honor

High school students around the state were recently honored by the STARTedUP Foundation during the eighth annual Innovate WithIN state finals.

Carmel students Kelly Fulk and Maxwell Gootee pitched their idea for SpheriLine, a solution that aims to change the design of internal jugular central lines (IJs) to increase patient comfort and reduce the risk of bloodstream infections.

The idea earned them the People’s Choice Award. Both joined FOX59 Morning News to discuss the innovation and what’s next.
